The story of the artist, David Djiango

David Djiango is a French contemporary painter who creates original works and modern portraits that blend emotion, minimalism, and visual power. Discover his unique canvases, perfect for collectors and art lovers seeking a striking and timeless piece.

"When I was little, I wanted to be an inventor..."


Why the architect of the portrait?

It is through my knowledge as an architect that I think about designing a new work, like an architectural project… In this work of research and experimentation, we find the theme of the arrangement of space, movement and different materials.

A play of contrasts emerges between the brightest and darkest areas of my "patch," revealing the various techniques used with acrylic paint—brush, palette knife—and gold leaf. The accumulation of these small vertical touches of paint ultimately creates a dynamic rhythm, revealing the poetry of a face in the process of decomposition. "The multiplication of small elements creates, together, an architecture."

It is, however, the lightest of metals. Yet, on its own, it reflects the light it receives and absorbs the atmosphere of the space it inhabits. A contemporary way of revisiting kinetic art. What is your background?

Born in January 1991, David DJIAN grew up in the south of France. It was in this light-filled place that David developed a passion for art. He cultivated his taste for drawing and painting, notably at the Bô workshop where he learned the various techniques applied to art: charcoal, pencil, India ink, and acrylic.

In 2010, he left his native French Riviera to settle in Paris and began studying at Penninghen, a school of interior architecture, design, and graphic art. He graduated among the top students from the École Spéciale d'Architecture in 2017 with a manifesto project built without water in the Negev Desert.

In 2019, David decided to settle in Nice to fully dedicate himself to his first passion: painting. He serendipitously discovered a unique identity inspired by his architectural studies.

Through the study of movement, matter, rhythm, contrasts, and compositional balance, Djiango deconstructs the portrait to construct emotion. He gives it the name " Just a touch of love " to his series which he is still perfecting today through new and more complex techniques.

In November 2021, he obtained his HMONP (authorization to practice architecture independently). Alongside his painting, this artist-architect, specializing in eco-design and driven by a visionary approach, continues to create manifesto projects, presenting a new vision of the architecture of tomorrow by reinventing the concept of portraiture. He then taught eco-responsible architecture and construction at the École Condé, never putting down his paintbrush, and continues to export his work worldwide and collaborate extensively.
